Sustainability, Is It Hard?
We’ve seen as fast fashion brands continue to grow exponentially but we really don’t understand how much it truly affects our planet. The Fashion industry, including fast fashion contributes 8-10% of global carbon emissions, which is more than all internatinal flights and maritime shipping combines. The fashion industry’s operating model has increased the pace of design and production, leading to more fequent clothing replacements. The average person buys 60% more clothing today than they did in 2000. So as we move into the future has sustainable fashion just become harder to continue? Let’s discuss. Is Uniqueness still a thing?
With Social Media Platforms, such as Tiktok, and Instagram we’ve seen as trends dictate people’s personal still to the point where we can’t walk around SoHo anymore without seeing atleast 9 Balenciaga City Bags. Has trends controlled how we see our closets? Now with people doing fit checks with their unique pieces, if the video gains traction soon enough everyone willhave the same quilt puffer jacket. Clean girls. alive or dead?
The “Clean Girl” aesthetic has taken over the internet since it started. Slickback buns, minimal makeup, alo and lululemon workout sets, it seems like we can’t go a few seconds without seeing one in public. While Clean Girls were trending we also had the Anti-Clean Girl aesthetic which people found more relatable because honestly who can say they are genuinely waking up at 4am to take a pilates class. There has been talks about how elitest and consumerist being a Clean Girl truly is and with as much controversy the aesthetic has gained do we think that this aesthetic will soon die off, or are clean girls for life?
